Korea is situated on the westerner peninsular of China, a 24hour boat ride from Japan . It is a well developed country with the 7th largest economy. International brand names such as Samsung, LG, and Hyundai all originated from s.Korea.
Its famous for other exports such as the root ginseng and the martial art Tae Kwon Do .
Still officially at war with its neighbour the D.P.R.K. (north Korea) you couldn't really tell it was until you walk up the mountains in and around Seoul the capital which is a 40 minute drive to the broader (or military control area known as the DMZ). On the mountains you will find anti aircraft missiles and other military hardware to stunt an invasion or launch an attack.
Its very rare to hear much about the D.P.R.K. From the south Korean side, people seem to have learnt to live with the ongoing unrest between the two sides. Many say publicly that they want to reunite the country and make it one Korea again but if you ask more questions the knowledge that the south will become poorer if they unite often defines their truth belief.
s.Korea is a fearlessly competitive country from pre school the children learn to study hard many learning a second language as young as 4 years old. High on national pride and a work ethic to create a strong Korea its an interesting place which often contradicts itself, at face value its polite, respectful behind closed doors thing often don't add up...the official religion is Buddhism but Christianity has taken hold fast fitting in with the huge consumerist nature of the place and the work hard fast paced life style. Its often said that the body of Korea has grown so fast that many also say that the mind of Korea has not levelled out with its growth .

great photography. The two solitary sillouete of the trees are quite poignant to look at. Is there really a king buried in there?
Thanks for sharing.
